Reflection for odyssey of mind
After the competition, I felt really relieve as the project has finally came to end. Even though the preparation was really stressful and tiring, I still found myself enjoying it and missing the times of preparation. We had fun together and we get the chance to know more friends and understand each other better. All this happen through the communication we had during times of preparation and it is all thanks to the odyssey of mind. During the day of competition, we went to the competition site which is held at ACSI and we sat down to discuss on the last minute work that we had to sort out later before the competition itself.
In the later of the day, the results were finalize and we came in 2nd out of the four groups but we were not given any trophies for the hard work we have put in. We were rather disappointed and feel that everybody should have a share in the prizes as everybody have put in their time and soul into this project. The hard work that everybody has given into this project should not be neglected but appreciated. In short, we find that everybody should be applauded for the effort they have put into the odyssey of mind.
My participation in the odyssey of mind was not voluntary as it all happen when a group of us was having our break and preparing to go back to class. Then, our teacher in charge MR Tan came over to us and gave us the opportunity for joining in as part of the member of odyssey of mind. At first, we were stunned and did not know what to do as we had a chance to see our seniors perform last year. We knew that it was tough and therefore, most of us were reluctant to join. However, after much persuasion from our teacher in charge, all of us decided to take on the challenge and try out the new problems that we have to face as a group.
When it all started, we were ask to meet with our team leader which has the experience in odyssey of mind as he took part in it the previous year. Our odyssey of mind question is on the first problem which is named as “Earth Trek”. This problem requires teams to design and build a small vehicle that will visit four environments. These environments must be different from one another in a way or two. Each time the vehicle leaves an environment, it must have a change in its appearance, making it different and rea;listic each time. After leaving one of the environments it must appear to be a group of vehicles that are traveling together. The team's performance will incorporate the visits to the environments, and the changes in appearance of the vehicle.
After knowing the problems we had to face, we know that there will be a challenging time ahead of us but it was too late for us to withdraw even though we were more reluctant. We accepted our fate and came together to come up with different solutions and environments. As time wasn’t at our side we had to plan ahead and come up with a time line on when to meet up and discuss on the problem we had to solve.
During our first few meetings, we decided to come up with the environments first so that we will be able to progress on. However, our efforts were futile during the first few meetings but we persevered on and did not give up.
Then, we finally came up with the 4 environments of the forest, sky, ocean and a scene around the house. Then we decided to tackle the question it in a way that we start from playing a video game and got sucked into the fantasy world and travel along with the vehicle. At that time, our theme was to notify the judges on the effect of global warming. However, we found that the idea could not work as we proceed on to another idea which is to travel in the cart of the theme park and get chase by a group of alien creatures.
After more discussion and plotting of the new idea, we came up with better ideas by using the theme “fantasy world”. We came up with the whole plot of the story in just a day unlike those before which we took 2-3 weeks just to finalize the plot.
We came together and started to type out our script. By that time we were rather behind the time line that we had made. However, after lots of quarreling and discussing, we manage to sort things out and in the end, I found out that I have been enjoying the times and who knows, our relationship had grown stronger. The finalize script was finally out and we were prepared for the next big thing of the project, making of the props.
We met together and discuss on the materials and props needed(how are we going to make the effect that we had in the script) and as we progress, we came up with different ideas. One of the few which were more creative was the idea of using a box method as all of us can be stored within the box itself(with a small door cut out for movement). We started doing on the props and found out that there were still lots of materials that we didn’t buy and therefore were unable to proceed. We spend 1-2 months creating the props and most of it was of utmost challenge to us. However, the teachers were helpful enough to aid us in the production of the props as we were too young to handle the machines.
The processes of creating the props were tiring but with our teamwork, we manage to communicate with each other and the progress went on smoothly. Even though there were times that we had to stop work due to the lack of materials, we finally completed all our props on good Friday, which is 1 day before the competition itself, but it was a relieve.
One of the more difficult props we had to make is the vehicle as the limitations to the vehicle are more specific. We will need to operate the vehicle by moving it without having any physical contact with it. In other words, it is to program the vehicle to move by itself. After long hours of efforts, we finally finished the car.
On good Friday itself, we manage to fork out time after we completed our props for the rehearsal of our script. The first few tries was not successful and all of us were getting restless partly because we had been working for such a long time. Finally, we manage to get a hang of our lines and actions and it boost both our confidence and moral. Eventually, we were all prepared for the next day competition.
We went into the competing site but some of the stuffs went wrong and we had to resolve it right at the moment. Thanks to the patience of the judges, they understood that some problems cropped up last minute and was able to compromise with us, even though we took more than 10 minutes to set all the stuffs ready.
During the time when we were performing, I personally felt anxious as I am not use to performing on stage. However, everything went on smoothly maybe because of the ample amount of time we had put in for the practices.
Overall, even though we did not reap what we sow, I find that odyssey of the mind is really a once in a life time experience that we all should not miss as it not only can enhance relationship between friends and allow space to make more friends, it can also make us think and lay as a platform for us to release our creative juices. Overall, odyssey of the mind is enjoyable and nourishing.

ITC Reflection
Even before the start of the camp, I thought that the camp would be hell and was feeling rather down in class. Reason being the NCOs said that they will push us during the UG camp. And for no apparent reason I was looking forward to the camp. Maybe it’s cause the only thing that can push us would be PT.
After coming back from the match, there was a mam which talked to us and wanted to know more about what we feel towards the CCA. (including all the stuffs) Then she told us that the camp would be tougher as it is a training camp and she set us goals that we should accomplish during the camp. I personally think that we did not achieve our goals but was somewhere near it. However, it might be the attitude and other reasons that affect our results.
We had to clean our bunk later. NCOs were really unpleasant with our performance during bunk check but I personally think that we should not be blamed completely for the flaws. Even though it wasn’t the first time we were having a bunk check, but it was our first in a classroom and it was like months ago, so we wouldn’t be quite sure. No one is perfect and this is still our first try and we proof it by doing better in the next few bunk checks. But we are still at blamed because it is our duty to clean it within a fix amount of time.
During the night trail, it wasn’t as scary as last year. But I know that the NCOs had put in their best efforts. But seriously, you can’t get anything different as all the forms of scaring is the same, mostly by jumping in front from behind a wall or by holding on to the legs. But most of all the stations were the scariest.
On the same night, we had our solo night which was right after the night trail. It would be scary as we had just went through a series of frightening events. It was rather an interesting event as it would help us strengthen our courage and give us the experience to be alone in the dark which might be essential in our future life.
Next day, we were awaken by the whistle and we thought that it was our fire drill. Maybe it was because we heard 3 whistle and not 3 long whistle. In the end we were scolded for not the mistake that we made. It shows that we weren’t alert enough and I think that this is a skill that we should not only accept it but to strengthen it.
They combined the different UGs together and that was something that was totally fresh and different from the last year camp. We were given a chance to mix with the other UGs and this allow interaction within us and we could understand each other better.
Then, we had our drill and for this time, our performance was better than before. It may be luck or maybe we had improved. However, whatever the reasons may be, I am still proud of my own squad and I hope that we could improve more.
We had our UG night after the dinner and time sort of became tight for us. We came out with the last minute rushing and in the end, we manage to complete the task. Although we were able to finish it through the last minute rush, but it leave us to wonder why in the first place do we even need to rush in the nick of time. Maybe it was our poor communication skills, or we weren’t proactive enough or even maybe school time had caught up with the time for practicing.
We had our night PT at the end of day 2 and we manage to endure through it. Sir came and gave us a lecture on our standard. He said that we were able to do it and we have the potential inside us, it was just that we did not grab the opportunity in time and opportunity only come once. This not only apply in CCA but also in real life circumstances where we should make decisions that we do not regret. He even mentioned about what do we think of our NCOs, whether we should take them as role models or do even better than them. We should strive even harder and do our very best in the days to come and to try to do what we are capable of doing.
I feel that our performance were not really pleasant during the UG camp but true enough there were some improvement. However, we should try our very best to improve in all our areas so that we are more equipped for the future. This camp may be interesting but it wasn’t as tough as I had thought it would be. Reason being the NCOs were trying their best to make our lives better during the camp and I can understand that and we truly disappointing them. We should try our best and strive harder not only in our skill but also our character.

toking bout last friday which is like 2days ago...
1030 went out to school for OM... wad the hell luh like going to school n school and school...
in the end we did nth...-.- went out to eat with jh and danz...
when queueing tt time i see wrongly the price tag thn the aunty scold me sia...

i was like stun...

later went home played maple... scammed nth tt day but a few days b4 scammed alot...
earring int, 2 overall for dex, cape for luk and shoe for jump... but still nt enough mesos to buy maple kandayo... sad... but sth nice to talk about on fri... i tio another cape for luk... woots!!!==
later at 4.45 like tt went to cck mrt station to meet with my squadmates...
they where playing arcade at lot 1 and one of thm hav to come fetch me cause i bu4 shou2...

Finally i found sth to say...
todae went to campus superstar audition to 陪 my bro...
we went there at about 1115... thn wait and wait...
my mummy went to get the registration form like wth we so late thn prepare...
even the ones behind kepo and say we came unprepared...
we waited and i found out tt there wasnt musch of chio bus...zzz
sth wierd happen... one mediacorp guy came to the bois and ask us to go in front thn we followed him... thn sudddenly he disappeared... we gong gong like tt dunno where to go so we decided to go back to the queue...thn he popped out agn...wth... thn he scold us for nth...zzz
later we went in to the carpark thn wait and practice...
blah blah blah...
thn we went to take the photo and thn register...the photo damn ex $2 sia for a stupid photo...
yups and b4 tt we were waiting and they were like eatting luh... damn lor i was so hungry zzz...
finally we manage to went to the 2nd last stage of waiting... like finally luh...
thn i went to the toilet and suddenly i heard my name... thn i found out it was felicia like wth she also take part and she was like damn shock...
thn we walk past lots of place and i was like 脚软...
thn waited to go in to the room which i dunno wad its called...
thn waited agn... lots of waiting sia...
